Planned Bathymetric Mapping in 2021

This year the MAREANO programme will continue the bathymetric mapping in the Barents Sea, although only smaller transects. Therefore, there will not be a tender competition for the procurement of bathymetric data acquisition and processing.

The reason for this is that MAREANO is going to prioritize acquisition of biological, geological and chemical data.

The Norwegian Defence Research Establishment’s (FFI) research vessel “H.U. Sverdrup II”, shall survey the three planned transects in the Barents Sea.

“H. U. Sverdrup II” has been surveying for the MAREANO programme for several years, around Svalbard, Jan Mayen and in the Barents Sea.
